American singer and songwriter SZA (real name: Solána Imani Rowe) was born in St. Louis, Mo., and started making music in the early 2010s. Her debut studio album "Ctrl" was released in 2017, and the following year she was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.
She has since gone on to collaborate with several successful artists such as Maroon 5 ("What Lovers Do") and Kendrick Lamar, with whom SZA was nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards for their song "All the Stars" from the Black Panther soundtrack. SZA earned her first Grammy at the 2022 Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo Performance for her song with Doja Cat, "Kiss Me More."
Fun Fact: SZA formed her stage name from the "Supreme Alphabet" and was influenced by RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan. The S stands for savior or sovereign while the Z and A stand for zig-zag and Allah.
