Why Was 'Good Morning America' Meteorologist Rob Marciano Fired? What We Know

Fans have woken up with Rob Marciano as the chief meteorologist on Good Morning America since 2014.

But after the longtime ABC news staple was banned from the studio, he has officially been let go and will no longer appear on the morning program.

Why was Rob Marciano fired from his post? Here's what we know so far about the situation surrounding Rob's departure and what he might be doing next in his career.

Back in March 2023, Page Six reported that Rob had been banned from the New York City studio where GMA is filmed for the past year. In the meantime, he retained his job but was reporting from another studio or out in the field.

Why was Rob not allowed in the studio? Several sources told the outlet it had to do with Rob's allegedly inappropriate and aggressive behavior.

“He was found to have done something … that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven’t let him return," one source said.

Someone else said about Rob, "He made people feel uncomfortable. There was a period where there were some issues, a number of alarming events."

It was also alleged that Rob had anger management issues, and it may have had something to do with his divorce from his wife.

At the time that the separation was announced in July 2022, Rob said, "The last couple of years have been very difficult. I didn't want this and tried to save the marriage, but we are sadly divorcing. My focus now is on my kids."

He and his wife Eryn had been married for over a decade and share two children.

Fast-forward to now, and Rob has officially been fired from ABC, People confirmed in its April 30, 2024 report. While the network hasn't offered a reason, neither has Rob, as of this writing. But we're guessing it has something to do with his ban.

As of this writing, Rob had not changed his bio on his Instagram to reflect the parting of ways with ABC.

But fans are already taking to the comments to share their take on the development.

"I’m so angry right now. You’ve been Robbed at ABC," one person vented. Someone else countered: "He harassed co-workers, therefore he had to be fired. End of story."

Meanwhile, one of Rob's pinned posts from September 2023 now feels a little cringey.

"This month marks the start of my 10th year with ABC News, and I couldn’t be more pumped to continue this journey with all of you," he captioned the image. "I always dreamed of working for this network as a kid," he then said in part, before thanking his bosses for their support.

As for where Rob will go from here, it's anyone's guess. But given the rumors surrounding the reason for his departure, it could be a bit difficult to land another job.
