In May 2021, news of their relationship surfaced just days after John had announced that he and his now ex-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, were getting a divorce after more than six years of marriage.

In September 2021, just months after coupling up, John appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers and revealed to host Seth Meyers that he and Olivia were expecting a child together.
Reflecting on his past year, in which he had spent a 60-day stint day rehab, John praised Olivia for always having his back. On a different episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, John told Seth that Malcolm even got to tour with him.
"He loved the Westin in Buffalo," John teased during the June 2022 interview, adding, "They had one of those fake fireplaces that's like glowing rocks. And he sat down and goes, 'This is what I'm talking about.' He was so mesmerized."

The public got their first glimpse of the Newsroom star's now-former boyfriend Tucker Roberts back in late 2019 when she brought him to a party.
“I went to my girlfriend's Halloween party. Did not know there would be a photographer there, and did not know that photographer was a Getty photographer," she told Entertainment Tonight the following month. “I thought it was just her photographer for her house. I had no idea.”
By that point, Olivia and Tucker had been a rumored couple for about a year, but she still hadn’t made their relationship public.

He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2013 and started working for Activision Blizzard and Electronic Arts before joining the Comcast Spectacor team.
In her November 2019 ET interview, Olivia said she was perfectly content with her life but was also open to things changing in the future: “I've really come to a realization with myself that I'm already in my happily ever after. And if I want to have kids or want to get married then I'll do that, but it has to add to my life, you know? Everything has to add to my life."

Prior to dating Tucker, Olivia had been in a three-year relationship with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They were believed to have gotten together in 2014 after reportedly meeting at the ACM Awards, where they presented the award for Song of the Year together.

Olivia opened up to Andy Cohen on his Sirius XM radio series in 2018 about the rift between Aaron and his parents and siblings.
"Before he and I started dating he hadn’t spoken to the parents and one brother for, like, eight months before we started dating," she said. "And actually I remember my last day on The Newsroom ... I spent the day in my trailer just encouraging him to have an honest conversation with your parents, and we just kind of did bullet points."
