Content warning: This article mentions inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor.

Former Twitch streamer Herschel "Guy" Beahm, commonly known as Dr Disrespect, was abruptly suspended from Twitch in 2020, leaving fans utterly confused. Along with his suspension, an ESA rep confirmed to Kotaku that "the organization has revoked Dr Disrespect’s E3 badge."

Details regarding his permanent ban from Twitch only emerged in June 2024, shedding new light on his departure. It also led to Midnight Society, a game studio Dr Disrespect co-founded, terminating its relationship with the streamer.

After two former Twitch employees shared some serious allegations against the streamer, he came out with his own statement addressing the rumors — and what he had to say has left fans shocked.

A former Twitch employee says Dr Disrespect was banned because "he got caught sexting a minor."

On June 21, 2024, Cody Conners, a former Twitch employee who was tasked with working on the company’s strategic partnerships team, shared a rather shocking post addressing Dr Disrespect's ban. "He got banned because [he] got caught sexting a minor in the then-existing Twitch Whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text."

Another former employee, who asked to remain anonymous, provided The Verge with a similar account of what happened, saying Dr Disrespect was exchanging messages with a minor and had planned to meet up with them at TwitchCon.

In light of the news, Midnight Society, Dr Disrespect's game studio, announced on X that it had cut ties with him. "On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founders, Guy Beahm, aka Dr Disrespect. We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately," the post read.

Then, on June 25, 2025, Dr Disrespect finally came out to address these rumors in a lengthy statement on X. Here's what he had to say:

"First and foremost I do want to apologize to everyone in my community as well as those close to me, my team, and everyone at Midnight Society Game Studio. A lot of people have been left in the dark about what happened yesterday with Midnight Society and I, and we made the painful decision collectively, to have me step down ..."

"Everyone has been wanting to know why I was banned from Twitch, but for reasons outside of my control, I was not allowed to say anything for the last several years. Now that two former Twitch employees have publicly disclosed the accusations, I can now tell you my side of the story regarding the ban," he continued.

"Were there Twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more," the message continued.

Shockingly, he continued, "Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual ... from a moral standpoint I'll absolutely take responsibility. I should have never entertained these conversations to begin with. That's on me. That's on me as an adult, a husband, and a father. It should have never happened. I get it. I’m not perfect and I’ll f--king own my shit. This was stupid."

A supposed "leaked email" from alleged former Twitch staff absolving Dr Disrespect is believed to be fake.

In an X post, YouTuber Stan Price shares a screenshot of an email that he supposedly received from someone claiming to be a former Twitch staff member. This happened after the initial allegations of "sexting a minor" came to light, but before Dr Disrespect himself addressed the rumors.

In the email, the nameless "former Twitch employee" makes several claims about the situation, stating that the minor in question was 17 years old — which the streamer supposedly did not know at the time — and that Dr Disrespect was only messaging her to give her business advice. "These were messages in relation to how to scale new channels using tried and testing methods. Behind the scenes, this was a service that was offered by members of the Dr Disrespect team under a different brand name."

This person then goes on to share that many members of the Twitch team had a personal vendetta against Dr Disrespect and had been waiting for an opportunity to "get him on something," which is supposedly why his Twitch Whispers were being monitored.

However, this email is not confirmed to be real, and there is no verifiable name attached. In fact, Stan Price himself stated on X that, until the Twitch Whisper logs are released, he won't believe any outside information, including what is written in the "leaked email."

On top of this, Dr Disrespect himself disproved some of this leaked information in his own statement, where he outright admitted that his "casual" conversations with this minor leaned toward being inappropriate. He made no mention of any business advice, nor did he corroborate any of the "leaked" information shared by the mystery informant.
