He’s been on the air for almost 20 years, first from 1994 to 1999 and then again from 2011 until now. But as of May 30, 2024, Bill’s voice will no longer be heard regularly by the Jersey public. What happened to Bill Doyle? New Jersey 101.5 revealed in a statement that “Big Bill Doyle” has officially left.

Bill Doyle was a staple of New Jersey 101.5, known for his quick wit, engaging stories, and, of course, that unmistakable voice. His partnership with Jeff Deminski made afternoons something to look forward to with their show, Deminski & Doyle. They were the dynamic duo of NJ radio, but that’s all about to change.

But life happens, and changes come, even to our favorite radio shows. In a heartfelt announcement, New Jersey 101.5 vice president Sam Gagliardi shared, "Bill Doyle has been a tremendous part of what we’ve done. We certainly want to thank him for everything that he has accomplished and everything the station has accomplished with him.”

Bill Doyle may have left because of contract changes.

So, why did Bill leave? Well, it appears that after many years of entertaining New Jerseyans, Bill decided it was time to pursue new adventures. While the specifics of his departure haven’t been laid out in detail, the tone from the station and his co-hosts was nothing but supportive and appreciative.

Even still, one Redditor shared that Jeff said on air that the station decided not to renew Bill’s contract so they could go in a “different direction.” It’s possible that they wanted to attract more young listeners and women, so to do so, they announced that Kylie Moore would be stepping into the afternoon slot alongside Jeff Deminski. According to the Redditor, Jeff sounded “very upset and guilty” that he was staying while Bill left.

On the other hand, Kylie shared her excitement for her new gig on the air: “I’m excited to partner with Jeff Deminski. He’s one of the hardest-working and most genuine people I know, and you can hear his passion through the airwaves. He can make me laugh, think critically, and argue with him all before we hit our first traffic break!”

Jeff added, “Kylie is fun, smart, and unique. I love the wide range of topics we’ll be able to cover.” So, while we’re all going to miss Bill, it’s comforting to know that the show is in good hands.

While Bill hasn’t shared his next steps publicly, we can only hope it’s something fulfilling. Maybe a podcast? A book? Whatever it is, we’re sure it will be as entertaining as his time on the air. Or he may choose to spend more time with his family in retirement. He’s left an indelible mark on New Jersey radio and will be missed by many.
