Many fan-favorite reality TV shows have a way of making comebacks, and in October 2022, Netflix resurrected a beloved classic: The Mole. After a 14-year hiatus, this reality game show returned to the small screen with renewed vigor.

Viewers can expect a weekly release schedule, with Episodes 6-8 set to be released on Friday, July 5. The final two episodes are slated to drop on Friday, July 12. It's then that fans will finally learn who wins and claims the entire prize pot!

Ari Shapiro is hosting Season 2 of Netflix's 'The Mole.'
In May 2024, Netflix announced that radio journalist Ari Shapiro would be the new host of The Mole. He's best known for being one of four rotating hosts on National Public Radio's flagship news program All Things Considered.
After the announcement, Ari sat down with Entertainment Weekly and reflected on how becoming the new host of The Mole feels like a full-circle moment for him, seeing as he applied to be a contestant during the show's original run on ABC more than 20 years ago.
He revealed, "The only reality show I have ever submitted an audition tape for in my life was the original Mole, Season 2. And I did not get so much as a callback."
"But I have been a fan of the show since its very earliest days," Ari added. "And so I was thrilled when Netflix brought it back, and I am even more thrilled that now I get to be a part of it. And I just have to say the fact that I've been sitting on the secret for nearly a year now and I finally get to talk to you about it is so exciting to me. I cannot keep my chill."
When asked how he landed this dream job, Ari described it as a "testament to the power of manifestation." Following the successful release of his memoir, The Best Strangers in the World, Ari and his team gathered to discuss future opportunities.
He recalled telling his team, "It doesn't even have to be something that feels like NPR. For example, I would love to host a show like The Mole." Interestingly, someone on the call disclosed, "Funny, they are actually looking for a new host."
From there, everything fell into place, and now Ari is the host of The Mole.
