It’s easy to get wrapped up in the potential fame and fortune that comes along with TikTok followers, but sometimes, it’s more dangerous than it may seem. A group of dancers who rose to fame on the social media platform were working with the 7M Management Company, which provided them with the resources to make high-quality dance content. But it also took so much from them that some have dubbed it a “cult.”

This led Netflix to produce Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, a documentary about the dancers and the inner workings of the organization. One of the main perspectives throughout is that of Kylie Douglas, who got herself out of 7M to advocate against it. But where is Kylie now?

Now, Kylie Douglies is focusing on her dance career as a performer and a teacher.

In an Access Hollywood interview shared on June 1, 2024, Kylie shared what she’s been up to since leaving 7M and the premiere of Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult. “I’m definitely doing way better now than I was when I first came out of the church and the management group,” she said. “But to this day now I am working on a lot of different things and I’m happy and proud of where I am today.”

Kylie first got pulled into 7M after she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in dance. In 2019, she founded her own dance company, The Voltz, but her dedication to the company faltered when she got involved in 7M and the Shekinah Church. Even still, her entrepreneurial spirit and independence is ultimately what kept her safe from getting too deep into the 7M “cult.”

“I’m a businesswoman, I teach at many studios, I have my own dance company,” she shared in the interview, revealing that her attachment to her life outside of 7M led to worse treatment. The more one was devoted to only 7M and the Shekinah Church, the more videos and better dances they would get to do.

“Leaving was actually really hard … It took me a while to get the courage to up and leave,” she revealed. “A lot of the dancers had their own stories too that we didn’t know about. Everything’s so swept under the rug and quite quiet, there were a lot of stories about my good friends in there.” But thanks to her family and friends, she was reminded of who “little Kylie” was and used that memory of herself to get out of 7M.

Kylie is advocating for those who are vulnerable to tactics used by 7M.

“It’s gross and I don’t want that to happen to anyone else,” she said. “I was just thinking of little Kylie. Her going out to LA and her goals and how easy it was to get involved in something like this, and for me, I couldn’t think about not speaking out about this situation and allowing other little Kylies to walk in blindly to something like this.”

This is why Kylie actually filed a lawsuit against 7M Management and filed a police report to support her experience, and she encourages others to do the same. “And so for me, if I didn’t use my voice and speak out about this, I wouldn’t be proud of what I went through. But now, because I’m speaking out, I am proud of what I’m doing, even though I may have gone through some crazy things, I’m coming out of it and speaking about it so it won’t happen to other people.”

And now, Kylie is back on her feet as a professional dancer and dance teacher. “I am doing what I wanna do,” she said. “I’m focusing on my dance company, The Voltz, and I’m really putting all my effort into helping mentor these kids. And that’s what I feel like I was called for – to teach and mentor children, and I can do that in the right way because I’ve been through so much as well.”
