According to Variety, actor Kevin Spacey was ordered in early 2024 to pay $1 million to "MRC, the production company behind House of Cards, to settle claims that he sexually harassed young male staffers on the show."

Spacey exited ahead of the final season of the show and was initially facing a $31 million judgment. The company launched an internal investigation and decided the allegations against the actor were credible. The company is attempting to recoup the rest of the judgment via Spacey's insurance company.

Where are Kevin Spacey's accusers now?

Spacey's first accuser was actor Anthony Rapp, who claims Spacey made a sexual advance toward him when he was 14. In October 2022, CNN reported that a New York jury "found him not liable for battery on allegations he picked up actor Anthony Rapp and briefly laid on top of him in a bed after a party in 1986." While guesting on Variety's podcast Stagecraft in February 2023, Rapp said, "It’s worth it in the sense that my coming forward helped pave the way for others to come forward, and has helped protect people."

A month after Rapp made his allegations, a woman by the name of Heather Unruh claimed Spacey sexually assaulted her son, per the BBC. Unruh is a journalist and former news anchor who said the incident occurred at a bar in Nantucket, Mass., in July 2016 when he was 18. She alleged that Spacey got her son drunk then "stuck his hand inside my son's pants and grabbed his genitals." Her son filed a lawsuit but dropped it in July 2019. The sexual assault charge was also dropped.

Victims continued to come forward like Mark Ebenhoch who told BuzzFeed about a time he was allegedly asked to participate in a "sexual act" while he was working on the movie Outbreak alongside Spacey. Ebenhoch was a military advisor who was stunned by the request. After that, he never spoke to Spacey on set again. As of 2018 Ebenhoch was living in the Florida Keys as an openly gay man who advocated for equal rights.

Several men said Spacey put his hands on their genitals. Filmmaker Tony Montana told Radar Online that Spacey grabbed his crotch and said, "This designates ownership." He had PTSD for six months following the alleged incident. A British bartender by the name of Kris Nixon claimed Spacey took hold of his penis while telling Nixon he could f--k him better than his girlfriend, per The Hollywood Reporter. The same thing allegedly happened to Richard Dreyfuss's son Harry when he was 18, as well as three anonymous men.

There were multiple allegations from men who were underage at the time of the incidents.

Other than Rapp, who was 14 years old when Spacey was allegedly trying to groom him, other young men made similar claims. A man who chose to remain anonymous told Vulture that Spacey entered into a sexual relationship with him when he was 14. The actor was 24 at the time and promised to help with his acting career. This occurred in 1983. Two years later, Spacey invited a 17-year-old boy to spend the weekend with him in New York. The man told the BBC he woke up to find Spacey on top of him.
