Wow, just when we thought My 600-lb Life couldn't get any crazier, we met J.T. Clark in Season 8, Episode 4, which aired on Jan. 22, 2020. J.T. weighed nearly 900 pounds by the time he left his Oklahoma house behind to visit Dr. Now's office in Houston.

J.T. is one of the heaviest patients to ever enter Dr. Now's care on the show, and certainly the heaviest one this writer has ever seen.

It's worth mentioning, though, that J.T. also had a massive lymphedema on his leg that added about an extra 100 pounds he had to carry, which brought his weight to a total of 892 pounds at the time of filming.

Now that a few years have passed since J.T.'s appearance on the show, people are wondering how he's doing and what he's been up to. So, here's an update!

In 2020, J.T. from 'My 600-lb Life' wasn't working and had a girlfriend.

We met J.T. in 2020 in his modest Oklahoma house where he lived with his dog and girlfriend at the time, Jessica. He was 32 years old (he's now 35) and hadn't worked since he hit 700 pounds at 25 because he couldn't physically stand upright.

Jessica supported the household and always made sure that J.T. was well-fed. More so than the myriad of other patients we've seen on My 600-lb Life, J.T. was candid about how crucially obsessed and addicted he was to food.

"Nothing in my life can compete with how food makes me feel," he previously shared. He also admitted, "eating is better than sex for me and every time I take a bite it's like I'm transported to another world." J.T. added, "I can't imagine my life without it because it is my life. If I'm awake, I'm eating or waiting to eat, and if I'm sleeping, I'm dreaming of food."

J.T. managed to drop over 600 pounds while under Dr. Now's care.

J.T. reached a point where he was eating 24/7. He weighed "so much [he could] hardly move" which helped him to realize that "at any moment [his] heart could just give out." That's what prompted him to set off on a harrowing road trip to Houston to visit Dr. Now.

We'll save you some of the details, but essentially Dr. Now agreed to take him as a patient. He advised J.T. to relocate to Houston because the back-and-forth was too much on his body and his lymphedema, which everyone was very concerned about. Jessica decided to break up with J.T. because it was all just too much and she wanted to go back to her regular life. Honestly, who could blame her?

This meant that J.T. needed to lose the rest of the weight for the gastric sleeve surgery with the help of only Dr. Now and a cousin who came to visit him in the Houston rehab and halfway houses he lived in ahead of the procedure.

By the end of the 12-month journey, after a few serious discussions with Dr. Now ("You're killing yourself with food," he told J.T. at one point. "What part of that is hard to understand?!"), J.T. got the surgery and ultimately shed a total of 373 pounds. His final weigh-in showed 491 lbs.

After undergoing the surgery and dropping the weight, J.T.'s next step was to remove the humongous mass on his leg, which Dr. Now was hopeful would take away another 100 pounds. Although we don't see that happen on the show, J.T.'s story continues on Season 9, Episode 5 of My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?, which aired on June 5, 2024.

A year and five months after meeting Dr. Now, J.T. had dropped down to 351 pounds, and the weight loss was quite noticeable in his appearance. Although he had reached a point where he could finally undergo surgery for his lymphedema, he had to postpone it due to COVID-19 shutdowns. But that didn't deter him from his weight loss journey. And by two years and nine months after his initial meeting with Dr. Now, J.T. was ready to undergo surgery.

J.T. was so excited (and ready!) to get the mass removed from his leg, which had been hindering his mobility. He took to Facebook in February 2023 to share the news. In the post, he also asked for a ride to Houston, which was later provided to him by his uncle.

A few months before undergoing surgery, J.T. weighed in at 357 pounds. And thanks to the removal of his lymphedema, he shed another 80 pounds, 20 of which Dr. Now said was fluid. According to our calculations, that would put J.T.'s weight somewhere around 277 pounds.

Where is J.T. from 'My 600-lb Life' now?

Today, J.T. seems to be in a much better place after having lost over 600 pounds while under Dr. Now's care. While his posts on social media are sporadic, we're able to conclude he's doing better based on his updated profile picture. In March 2023, J.T. updated his Facebook profile picture, revealing he's lost more weight as his face looks slimmer and his jawline is much more defined.

Then, in February 2024, J.T. announced on Facebook that he was in a relationship with a woman named Emily Mahan.

You can watch (or rewatch) J.T.'s experience on Discovery Plus or Hulu and stream other seasons of the hit series.
