When it comes to the OG Housewives who are no longer on their franchises, Jill Zarin is one who knows how to keep her name in the headlines. She was seen as a charter guest on Episode 9 of Below Deck's 11th season and certainly made her mark, despite her presence not being one that the crew took too kindly to. She was also in the cast of FreeVee's The GOAT and proved she can handle herself in a competition format. But along the way, news about her and her daughter's personal life has made headlines.

In recent years, the Real Housewives of New York alum shared some intriguing news about her family. Her daughter, Ally Shapiro, was conceived by way of a sperm donor. The story first broke in 2020, when Jill provided insight into the fertility difficulties she and her first husband Steven Shapiro struggled with. This eventually led them to the sperm bank, and thanks to that, they were able to have their daughter Ally.

Ally has been open with her TikTok followers about the situation — including some startling revelations.

Who is the biological father of Jill Zarin's daughter, Ally Shapiro?

While Bravo fans learned about the paternity news in 2020, Ally recapped the facts in a June 2024 TikTok video.

In it, she touched on the discovery of her biological father in 2019, and recounted how she eventually learned that the man wasn't her father either. Apparently the clinic Jill went to for the donor mixed up the samples between the person who Jill chose and another man. The only reason this came up too late was thanks to 23andMe, where her biological father first discovered and contacted her.

Ally Shapiro had already begun building a relationship with the man she thought was her biological father.

In the TikTok video, Ally went on to explain how she discovered who her biological father is. Initially, everyone assumed it was the person Jill chose. Once Ally was made aware of the sperm-donor situation via some emails she found (more on that later!), she began getting to know the man along with some of her newfound half-siblings. So when she received the message on 23andMe, she not only discovered who her true biological father was, but she also found an entirely new group of half siblings to get to know while informing the other that they weren't related.

How did the original news about Ally's biological father first come out?

Jill shared in 2020 that she received an email that included many other family members questioning Ally's birth. Ally's stepmother allegedly sent the email asking questions along the lines of, "Why is Ally the fattest in the Shapiro family? Why does Ally have blue eyes?" and so on. Ally discovered the email and demanded answers. The news was immensely shocking for her, and she also made sure to cite her stepmother's malicious intent when sending the email, expressing disappointment at the woman's behavior. In fact, Jill claimed that it was emotional blackmail.
