In each season of Below Deck Mediterranean, viewers are introduced to a group of interior and exterior crew members, some new and some familiar, who live and work together on a 150-foot yacht that's traveling around the Mediterranean Sea. While it sounds like a dream experience, it's usually a pretty intense couple of weeks packed with drama.

Things are often unpredictable. And in Season 7, when stew Kyle Viljoen took a tumble down the stairs and sprained his ankle, Elena Dubaic was brought in to replace him. She didn't return for the eighth season, but she is part of the cast of mostly newbies for Season 9 of Below Deck Med. Here's what we know about the stew aboard the Mustique.

Elena Dubaich joined 'Below Deck Mediterranean' back in Season 7.

Per her bio on Bravo's website, Elena knows several languages as she spent her childhood living in various Balkan countries. She actually first started working as a translator in her early days, but it became a little dull for her. Elena craved a more adventurous job — one that would allow her to travel the world.

Elena later found her calling after attending massage school. She would give massages, but travel the world as she did. She got the best of both worlds when she brought her talents to the cruise industry, where she not only gave massages but also taught yoga and meditation to guests. As far as being a stew is concerned, her brief time during the seventh season might not make her as experienced as some Below Deck veterans, but she was a welcome addition to the nearly all-new cast for Season 9.

Elena is also a model outside of Below Deck Med. She walked in Miami Swim Week in June 2024, and her Instagram is full of outdoor shots of her in bikinis in various tropical locations. Clearly, Elena has a lot going on outside of being a stew on the Bravo series.

Why wasn't Elena in Season 8 of 'Below Deck Med'?

No one from the eighth season of Below Deck Med is back for Season 9, so it's probably a good thing Elena wasn't part of that season after her initial introduction into the series. She likely never returned because she was only brought in as a replacement for Kyle as he recovered from his injury.

But apparently, all was not lost for Elena, since she was asked back for a season as one of the few returning stews — even if her time was initially limited. Apparently, Elena already has fans talking about the "drama" she could create as a more full-time member of the crew, and that's literally what we watch the show for.

Watch Below Deck Med on Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.
