Former NBA player Drew Gordon died in a car crash in Portland, Ore. on May 30, 2024. Drew, who is also the brother of current Denver Nuggets star Aaron Gordon, played both in the NBA and in various leagues overseas for more than a decade. He announced his retirement from professional basketball in 2023, 11 years after he went undrafted in 2012.

Who was Drew Gordon's wife?

Drew was married to his wife, Angela. In his final Instagram post, he celebrated her birthday, joking that she had just turned 21.

"Spent the day yesterday in the present and not posting on social media," he wrote. "But happy birthday bubba (yesterday)!!! The big 21 😅 thank you for being you and putting up with my crazy!! You have been killing it and will continue to do so!! I love youuu!!! We will go out for your first drink now that you are finally of drinking age."

Did Drew Gordon have any kids?

Angela and Drew shared three children — Jayden, Zayne, and Brody. Drew made a regular habit of celebrating his family on social media, and posted "Happy birthday to you my love!! Been a chaotic year (as always) but you have always been there and we always make the best of any situation! You are the best boy mom ever! We have three beautiful boys and a great life! I can’t wait to keep doing more life with you because you are amazing! Enjoy your day love."

Who was Drew Gordon's brother?

Family was obviously a big part of Drew's life, and that love for his family also extended to his younger brother, Aaron. Aaron is currently a forward with the Denver Nuggets, and was a big part of why that team entered the 2023-2024 season as the defending NBA champions. Denver was eliminated from this year's playoffs prior to the news about Drew's death.

What was Drew Gordon's cause of death?

News of Drew's death was reported by his agent, who said that he died in a car crash in Portland on May 30. There are no additional details about the circumstances around the accident or who if anyone may have been at fault. Drew was just 33 years old at the time of his death.

Before his professional career, Drew was a standout player in college for both UCLA and New Mexico, which put him on the NBA radar. He went undrafted in 2012, but he attended a workout with the Dallas Mavericks. He was then signed by the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-2015 season, and played nine games with the team before his contract was waived in December. After that, he played professionally outside of the U.S.
