Kim and Khloe Kardashian Discuss Caitlyn Jenner and *That* Documentary on 'The Kardashians'

With all the drama that exists on The Kardashians, sometimes we can forget what's occurring within the family off-screen. Since Kris and Caitlyn Jenner's 2015 divorce, we haven't seen the activist on the Hulu show. But we can't forget that things were incredibly awkward between Caitlyn and her former stepdaughters after Caitlyn wrote some not-great things about Kris in her book.

Now, in Season 5 of The Kardashians, Khloé and Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Scott Disick discuss what Caitlyn said about the family in the documentary House of Kardashian. And it makes you wonder if the Kardashian side of the family has much contact with Caitlyn these days.

When Caitlyn was promoting her book, The Secrets of My Life, in 2017, she definitely used some of the members of her family to get further press attention. She spoke about how she hadn't talked to Khloé Kardashian in two years, and how Khloé felt the most betrayed by Caitlyn's words about Kris. The two used to have arguably the closest relationship out of the Kardashian sisters, making it all the more heartbreaking that they are not on great terms.

On Oct. 28 2019, only Kim and Kylie posted tributes to Caitlyn for her birthday (Kylie is Caitlyn's biological child). Neither Kourtney nor Khloé posted any sort of birthday wish for Caitlyn. When she posted pictures from her birthday dinner at Nobu (the quintessential Kardashian celebration restaurant), Kim, Kendall, Kourtney, and Kylie attended out of the KUWTK crew, and some of Caitlyn's kids from his previous marriage were also there.

And now, more recently, Khloé had some choice words about how Caitlyn's comments and claims in the documentary affected her. She says in the Season 5 premiere of The Kardashians that Caitlyn was her dad "for 24 years" and that she was "very close to Bruce."

"Caitlyn is completely free to do whatever she wants," Khloé tells producers on the show. "I do find it strange that she would agree to do a documentary I would imagine isn't trying to paint us in the most beautiful light. I just know she wouldn't like that about her."

On the flip side, Kim says in the Season 5 premiere, "None of those things that are said, even if twisted or whatever, are gonna make me think differently of, like, the life I had."

Although the season was filmed toward the later half of 2023, it doesn't look like Caitlyn has much of a relationship with the Kardashians at this time. In October 2023, Caitlyn admitted in an ITV News interview that she is "much closer to the Jenner side" of the family.

Neither Kylie or Kendall have spoken out much about Caitlyn since the House of Kardashian documentary premiered in 2023. Prior to that, they maintained publicly that they had a strong relationship with her. However, Ciatlyn still shares Instagram posts about her kids from time to time, including those who may or may not still be on speaking terms with her.
