Former 'Below Deck Med' Couple Brooke and João Accuse Each Other of Lying and Cheating

It’s official: Below Deck Mediterranean isn’t as entertaining without Brooke Laughton. After watching the stewardess fall for co-star João Franco last year, fans were bummed to hear that she wouldn’t be returning to the show for Season 4.

"There's a trick to the 'graceful exit.' It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, or a relationship is over — and let it go," Brooke wrote shortly after the reunion special in September, confirming that she and João had split.

So, does the 27-year-old have a new boyfriend? Here’s what we know about Brooke’s current relationship status and what went down between her and João after they left the Talisman Maiton.

On the Season 4 premiere of Below Deck Med, João claimed that things unraveled between the duo because Brooke was unfaithful.

"Brooke and I threw ourselves in the deep end. I met her family, she met mine. She came to Zimbabwe, and we worked so well together, we really did," he told the camera. "Things seemed perfect, but I found out she cheated on me."

In an interview with The Daily Dish, João explained that he left his position as a bosun on a charter vessel in Europe to be with Brooke in America. "Well, by the time I figured out exactly what was going on, I couldn't really believe it because I had literally quit my dream job," he shared.

"I was busy planning a trip on a sailboat for us for two-and-a-half months, and she asked me to give her one more month on her boat in order for her to be happy to leave, and it turned out she was with the other guy."

Brooke denied cheating on João, telling People magazine, "Although it initially hurt to hear João blamed our relationship breakdown on a false claim that I cheated on him, it is very true to his character and allows him some relief for his ego." She added, "If this theory makes him sleep easier at night, then so be it but him saying this only makes me lose even more respect for him."

In June, João said he believed Brooke was still dating the guy she allegedly cheated on him with, but couldn't confirm it. However, based on the brunette beauty’s Instagram, it doesn’t look like she’s in a relationship — though she did have to shoot down engagement rumors in December.

"I’m not engaged — this is a mirror image ... ring on right hand," Brooke wrote next to a photo featuring a gorgeous diamond ring.

As for João — who got heat last year for flirting with stewardess Kasey Cohen while in a relationship with Brooke — he showed up to Season 4 single, though he’s now dating a woman named Michelle Dicu.

"Girl of my dreams," he captioned a pic of the pair in February. The couple became "Instagram official" in November.
